| Exemptions Full
or part qualification of a recognized professional body or university will make you
eligible to apply for exemptions from some subjects.
Some of the recognized qualifications are:
- Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICA)
- Chartered Institute of Management Accountants - UK (CIMA)
- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants - UK (ACCA)
- Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Management or related
field from a recognized University
- Higher National Diploma in Accounting/Commerce (HNDA/HNDC)
- Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka
- Chartered Institute of Marketing - UK (CIM)
- Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)
- Any other recognized qualification
Existing CMA Students
Students already registered with CMA, could register for the CMA - CA & IT
programme by paying subscription fees of Rs. 500/- per annum. It would be compulsory
for them to sit the two IT papers, one at a time. For other subjects exemptions will
be granted depending on the subjects passed at the CMA examinations.
Request for Exemptions
A written request must be submitted together with certified photocopies
of relevant results sheets/certificates which clearly indicate the subjects you covered
for that course. CMA reserves the right to call for additional information to assess
your eligibility for exemptions. The request may be submitted either with the
Application for Student Registration or separately. You may even submit a request
for exemption before you send the Application for Registration.
The closing dates for Requests for Exemptions for each examination is as follows:
- For the January Examination - Before 30th of September
- For the July Examination - Before 31st of March
