I am indeed pleased to send this message on
the inauguration of the CMA - CA & IT program which is a Certificate course in
Accounting and IT. This new program has been designed to a give a practical
knowledge to all students in accounting with the use of IT. All organizations big,
medium or small are today using computers and it is our objective to develop the skills of
our youth for the job market in the private and public sector and also for the foreign
markets. |
This CMA - CA & IT program has been launched to coincide with the
announcement of the government backed e-Lanka project to make all citizens especially the
youth computer literate. We will register existing Private Educational and Computer
Institutes to deliver the program Island wide. Further the basic qualifications of
GCE O/L will open avenues to school leavers to develop their skills and get a recognized
qualification in Accounting, IT and English.
Another objective of this program is to bridge the Digital Divide or to make available
affordable education to meet the needs of the job market. After qualifying at the
Examination students could pursue their career Full time or Part time while employed to
become a professional management accountant.
I wish to thank all those both local and foreign who have assisted us to make this
project a reality and am confident that the CMA - CA & IT program will be able to play
a significant role in the development of quality education in Sri Lanka.
