Graduation Ceremony

The fourth Graduation Ceremony of the Society of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) was held on 22nd June 2007 at the BMICH. The Chief Guest was Hon. Bandula Gunawardena, Minister of Trade, Marketing Development, Co-operatives and Consumer Services and the Guest of Honour Dr. R. M. K. Rathnayake, Secretary of the ministry.
CMA Sri Lanka was set up as the professional management accounting body in Sri Lanka with financial assistance from the Canadian International Development Agency(CIDA) and technical assistance from CMA of Canada on 3rd June 2000.
CMA provides the opportunity to students to qualify as a Professional Certified Management Accountant (CMA) at a very affordable cost. It also conducts a certificate course in Accounting and Information Technology. Presently the Society has over one thousand two hundred members, and a Council of eight distinguished professionals presided over by Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala.
CMA Canada moderates all core examination papers ensuring that international standards are maintained at the examinations. The Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka conducts the examinations. CMA Sri Lanka has increased it's student base, from 400 students at the first professional management accounting examinations in March 2001 to over 7700 registered students at present. At the Graduation Ceremony, there were 82 students who qualified as Certified Management Accountants (CMA's) who received their certificates from the Chief Guest Hon. Bandula Gunawardena.
